Diagnostic: What was Sandy?

Diagnostic Goal: The goal of this diagnostic is have students write 200-250 word reflections on what they believe to be most significant about Hurricane Sandy. They should support their claim with one or two reasons for why they believe what they do.

Diagnostic Description: The purpose of this reflection is to assess your writing style, but also to learn what you believe is most important about Hurricane Sandy. First, we will watch a short video. Then students will reflect on what they believe to be most significant about Hurricane Sandy. They may use personal experiences or they may draw upon the video. They are not required to cite the video, but if they do they should make it clear to the reader. Overall, students should be able to address the meaning of the storm: why should we pay attention to something that already happened?
